COOPER RIVER MAPS
Chuck Wagons & Tents
SRAA and the Cooper River welcomes all of our athletes and families. To welcome everyone back this year, we are happy to say that tents and chuckwagons will be allowed. Grills must be outside of the tents. To truly celebrate, we are not charging a fee this year for tent sites or chuck wagon permits. Please note, however, that the first row along the river for Team Family tents will be reserved for teams that volunteer their time to the event. If interested in volunteering, please contact Harry at [email protected].
Chuck Wagon & Tents FAQ:
Will tent assignments be assigned? No, tent space will not be assigned but teams who volunteer during the event will be assigned front row access. However, all tent spaces will be marked in the grass of the designated tent area. We ask that you only use a marked tent space and do not encroach on the space near the exhibitors or block the pathways. There will be approximately 40 feet of space from the edge of the river to the first tent for all spectators to stand, set up chairs and cheer on their teams. This will block all tents from view of the river. With this in mind – there is no true benefit to any of the tent locations. Do not stress about tent location.
Tent Sizes: Tents on the front and second row will be limited to a 10 X 20 size tent. We will have over 140 teams coming and need to conserve space. The third row can have tents as large as 20x20. There will also be space off to the side for larger tents and excess tents.
Rules for tents: Tents can be staked into the ground or use weights. Please just make sure the tent is secured in case of wind. Be good neighbors! Grills must be outside of the tent. There will be space allotted for both a tent and the grill
When can Chuck Wagons be brought and Tents Setup? Chuck wagons and tents can be setup no earlier than noon on Thursday. Please note that only teams who volunteer and have been given permission from the LOC can access the front row sites. Any tents that are setup prior to noon on Thursday will be taken down. We will be marking the tent spaces Thursday morning.
Chuck Wagon location: Chuck Wagons will be located very close to the tents in the main parking lot. There will be a handful of chuck wagons in place to show you where they be lined up.
Chuck Wagon Trailer vehicles: Must unhitch and park in the lot or elsewhere. They cannot stay hitched to the vehicle.
Parking: There is a large lot available for parking right next to where the tents will be located. You cannot park in the La Scala parking lot. There will be plenty of street parking along the river. Bishop Eustace may open their lot for paid parking, and it is a short walk.
Dropping off items for the chuck wagons: If you come early enough – this should not be a problem. You will be able to park in the same lot as the chuck wagons and have a short walk with any food items. The Cooper River Park is relatively easy to navigate with driving and parking. As the day goes on, it will become more crowded, but it is still manageable. There will be NO shuttles or golf carts.
Overnight Chuckwagons and tents: Yes, they can be kept overnight. We strongly suggest keeping all items inside the chuck wagon and locking it. The county, SRAA or the LOC is not responsible for damage or theft
Ice/water on-site: No, it will not be available on-site. There are three Wawa convenience stores within a short distance from the river (less than a 5 minute drive each) and a Wegmans supermarket about 4 miles away.
Hay: There will be no Hay on site to purchase. The county is not requiring hay to protect the ground.
Rental tents: No. You must use your own tent.
Fees: There are no fees for the chuck wagons or tents this year. The County, SRAA and LOC are excited to have everyone back to racing!
Trash: Please try to minimize your footprint and be respectful of the County Park. Please bring you own trash bags and clean up after yourself. You can leave the trash bags near the trash cans supplied by the county. We ask that you leave the area as you came to it.
Any additional questions please contact Harry Faunce at [email protected].
