Coaches and participants in the Scholastic Rowing Association of American Regatta,

The SRAA Board reiterated that the goal of this year's regatta is, as last year, twofold: A safe and top quality regatta. The Regatta must be manageable in size for safety of the rowers and limited as a "Championship Regatta" to highly competitive boats. To achieve this, SRAA has again limited the number of entries, retained the Junior and Freshman event to the lineup but eliminated the Jr. singles.

The following is the slate of events for our 2007 Championship Regatta:

Varsity Events
8+ 36 entries
4+ 36 entries
4x 18 entries
2x 18 entries
1x 18 entries

Lightweight Events
8+ 24 entries
4+ 24 entries
2nd Varsity Events
8+ 18 entries

Junior Events
8+ 24 entries
4+ 24 entries
4x 12 entries
2x 12 entries

Freshmen Events
8+ 18 entries

Events with 36 boats will be allocated as follows:

Florida State Championship 5
City Championship in Philadelphia 4
NJ Scholastic Championships 4
NY State Scholastic Championships 5
VA Scholastic Rowing Championship 5
National Capital Championship 2
Midwest Championship 4
Open 7

Events with 24 boats will be allocated as follows:

Florida State Championship 3
City Championship in Philadelphia 3
NJ Scholastic Championships 3
NY State Scholastic Championships 3
VA Scholastic Rowing Championship 3
National Capital Championship 2
Midwest Championship 3
Open 4

Events with 18 boats will have two entries from each region with 4 open slots.

Events with 12 boats will have one entry from each region with 5 open slots.

Any slots that are not used by a region will go into the open category. Teams who can provide evidence of why they should be considered may petition (petitioning is closed as of 12/15/07 12:00am) for these open slots. A sub-committee of the Board of Trustees will review the petitions. Priority will be given to competitive teams that are not represented by a region.

Second varsity boats will only be allowed if the Varsity 8 qualifies and registers. Your second boat must qualify as well.

Athletes in junior events must not have turned 18 before September 1st of the current school year.

The Board of the SRAA's appreciates your input and desires to make this regatta a successful one.

Thank you,

SRAA Board of Directors
